GUNS N' ROSES To 'Start Focusing On' New Album 'In Earnest' In The Fall, SLASH SaysAsked if the band has started writing together yet, the guitarist, who has been busy playing shows with his solo band, SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS, said: "I wouldn't say we've really sat down and had those sessions yet.” He continued: "The CONSPIRATORS are finishing up in mid-August and then GUNS is going out in late September/October, so in the fall. But at the same time, we're focused on working towards this new record that everybody's been asking about. So start focusing on that in earnest. And that's it. I'm not thinking about anything else while that is going on. That's really the main focus. By the time the CONSPIRATORS tour is done, I will have written enough material for the next CONSPIRATORS record that whenever that break comes up with GUNS N' ROSES we can go on to do that. We’ll just juggle all this stuff, schedules permitting." Asked what the new GUNS N' ROSES album will be like, he said: "I have no fucking idea. I really couldn't tell you. It's like anything else — you don't know what it is until it's done." Earlier in the month, GUNS N' ROSES was announced as the first act for the 2019 edition of the Louder Than Life festival, which runs between September 27 and September 29 at the Highland Festival Grounds at KY Expo Center in Louisville, Kentucky. This will mark the first live appearance for GUNS since they played in Hawaii in December 2018. GUNS N' ROSES' "Not In This Lifetime" tour began in April 2016, and after 159 shows in 41 countries, it played its last date at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii on December 8, 2018. "Not In This Lifetime" is now believed to be the second-highest-grossing tour of all time, having generated more than $500 million since it began three years ago. According to Pollstar, "Not In This Lifetime" topped $82 million in sales during 2018 alone, having grossed an average of $3.7 million per show over the course of the 24-date run. Since the end of the tour last year, Slash and bassist Duff McKagan have both returned to solo endeavors. The "Not In This Lifetime" tour features classic-lineup members Slash, McKagan and Axl Rose (vocals) backed by guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and second keyboardist Melissa Reese.
