DAVID COVERDALE Celebrates 68th Birthday With SCORPIONS: Photo, VideoEarlier today, SCORPIONS tweeted a photo from the festivities and wrote in an accompanying message: "It was wonderful last Night to celebrate the Birthday of our dear friend David Coverdale with the whole Whitesnake Gang . so much fun . so many Storys to Share . Happy Birthday David and many more to come . Scorpions" SCORPIONS drummer Mikkey Dee posted a short video of the proceedings and wrote: "Pre birthday party for Mr Coverdale. Great evening!" Coverdale was lead singer of DEEP PURPLE in the 1970s. He later founded WHITESNAKE, which had its biggest commercial success with its self-titled 1987 release, featuring the MTV classic "Here I Go Again". Coverdale was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, along with several other former and current members of DEEP PURPLE, in 2016. WHITESNAKE released its 13th album, "Flesh & Blood", in May. Earlier this year, Coverdale said that he had no plans to retire anytime soon. "I wanna keep going," he told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation". "It's the passion. I really felt that we owed the WHITESNAKE fans a new original record. That was very primary on my thought process of doing this. "It was hard to get into shape for me regarding what I've been through and my body had been through at my age in 2017, but I so love performing," he added. "You're gonna have to get me off with one of those shepherd's crooks — pull me off to the side. But, yeah, I'm very reinvigorated, energized and very inspired to give it everything I have.
